I don't like the new layout. It's so unprofessional. I greatly preferred the old color scheme, though what really gets me is the whole style. Looks a bit busy, korny, clashes with the artwork itself, and over-all my eyes do NOT flow across the screen like they used to.
The Modular design may be a step forward. But it's a bit... odd. Now people's stuff will get mixed up, making it a little slower to navigate for some. The SitBack module is really annoying to me, it seems bulky and slow, and I'm sure that would be even worse on older computers.
18/Male/United States? THIS IS NOT A DATING SITE. That area of the new layout may be smaller, yet it's much less versatile than the old design.
What I'd like to see on dA is a custom color scheme option. If we could have options to change the default scheme we view on other pages, as well as allow/disallow custom scheme on other's pages we visit, and customize our own page, that would be great.
But the defaults being how they are doesn't leave much good. Take the home page for example: Most Popular Deviations of All Time? Bad idea. Sure, users can customize it, but the majority of them won't. (nonmembers, unmotivated members.) The most popular of all time is basically always the same, and leaves less of a sense of active community, plus people can't get attracted to new, interesting things.
In other news, I've ordered the parts I need to fix my own computers, along with an expensive Home Theater PC for my mom.
